TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane) is a thermoplastic elastomer material combining elasticity and processability, with a wide hardness range and outstanding oil and wear resistance.

Its basic density varies significantly with hardness and formulation system, and the density varies slightly among different grades and modified types, as detailed below:

General-Purpose Soft TPU (Hardness below 80A): 1.10~1.20 g/cm³, typical value 1.15 g/cm³, high soft segment content and low density

General-Purpose Medium Hardness TPU (85A–95A): 1.18~1.25 g/cm³, typical value 1.22 g/cm³, balanced ratio of soft and hard segments, the most widely used

High Hardness TPU (60D–75D): 1.23~1.30 g/cm³, typical value 1.26 g/cm³, high hard segment proportion, density increases with hardness rise

Polyester-Based TPU: 1.20~1.30 g/cm³, typical value 1.25 g/cm³, good oil and hydrolysis resistance, slightly higher density than some polyether-based grades

Polyether-Based TPU: 1.15~1.25 g/cm³, typical value 1.20 g/cm³, excellent cold and low temperature resistance, relatively low density

Glass Fiber / Mineral Filled TPU: 1.30~1.50 g/cm³, density increases significantly with the rise of filler content, used to enhance rigidity and dimensional stability

Flame Retardant TPU: 1.22~1.32 g/cm³, typical value 1.27 g/cm³, flame retardant addition makes density slightly higher than general-purpose TPU of the same hardness

This density parameter is a core basis for the design of shoe materials, seals, cable sheaths, automotive elastic components and precision wear-resistant parts. The adjustability of density with hardness and formulation makes it suitable for different elastic and structural requirements. Density calculation is also key data for product weight control, mold cavity design and extrusion / injection molding parameter setting, while supporting its core properties of high elasticity, wear resistance and flex resistance.
