PC (Polycarbonate), commonly known as bulletproof plastic, is an amorphous, highly transparent engineering plastic with a stable basic density range unaffected by crystallinity, and the density of general-purpose neat resin shows minor fluctuations.

Minor differences in density exist among different grades and modified types of PC, as detailed below:

General-Purpose Neat PC: 1.18~1.22 g/cm³, typical value 1.20 g/cm³, the most commonly used density standard for basic grades

Transparent Grade PC (High Clarity, Haze-Free): 1.19~1.21 g/cm³, typical value 1.20 g/cm³, with more uniform density due to no impurity addition

Glass Fiber Reinforced PC (10%~30% Glass Fiber): 1.25~1.50 g/cm³, the higher the glass fiber content, the more significant the density increase, balancing strength and lightweight performance

Flame Retardant PC (Halogen-Free / Halogenated): 1.19~1.23 g/cm³, halogen-free flame retardant systems have a density close to neat PC, while halogenated systems have a slightly higher density but not exceeding 1.25 g/cm³

Impact Modified PC (Toughened Type): 1.18~1.23 g/cm³, density fluctuates slightly compared with neat PC due to toughening agent addition, without affecting core performance

Mineral Filled PC (Talc / Calcium Carbonate Filled): 1.22~1.35 g/cm³, the higher the filler loading, the more significant the density increase, focusing on rigidity enhancement

This density parameter serves as a core basis for the design of products such as optical components, electronic enclosures, and automotive lamp housings. Its stable basic density enables wide application in transparent or structural parts with high dimensional accuracy requirements. Density calculation is also key data for product weight control and assembly clearance design, while supporting the core properties of high impact resistance and high transparency.
