PSU (Polysulfone) is an amorphous high-performance special engineering plastic belonging to the sulfone polymer family. Its molecular chain structure endows it with excellent heat resistance, mechanical strength, electrical insulation, and dimensional stability, good hydrolysis resistance, can withstand high-temperature steam sterilization, non-toxic, with balanced comprehensive performance, making it a cost-effective choice between general-purpose engineering plastics and top special plastics, widely used in electronics, medical, automotive, water treatment, and other fields. The overall density of PSU is stable, with fluctuations mainly coming from modification types and filling components. Different types and modified versions of PSU have slight density variations, which directly determine the material's application scenarios, performance upper limit, and cost control range.

General-purpose pure PSU: 1.24–1.26 g/cm³, typical value 1.25 g/cm³. The amorphous structure gives it good toughness and dimensional stability, with a wide processing window, suitable for various mid-to-high-end basic precision components.
Glass fiber reinforced PSU (10–30%): 1.33–1.50 g/cm³. The higher the glass fiber content, the more obvious the density increase. The material's strength, rigidity, and creep resistance are significantly improved, suitable for high-load, high-temperature working environments.
Mineral-filled PSU: 1.30–1.45 g/cm³. Filling content is positively correlated with density. It mainly adds minerals such as talc and calcium carbonate to focus on improving dimensional stability, reducing warpage, and effectively controlling production costs.
Flame-retardant PSU (natural flame retardant, no need for addition): 1.24–1.26 g/cm³. The material itself has UL94 V-0 flame retardancy, no need to add additional flame retardants, density consistent with pure PSU, meeting electrical safety standards, environmentally friendly and residue-free.
Medical/food-grade PSU: 1.24–1.26 g/cm³. Passed FDA and USP Class VI certifications, with minimal density fluctuation. The core guarantee is hygiene and safety and resistance to steam sterilization, non-toxic, no odor, suitable for medical and food contact scenarios.
Glass fiber + mineral composite PSU: 1.35–1.52 g/cm³. It combines the high strength of glass fiber with the dimensional stability of minerals, with density between single reinforcement systems, more balanced comprehensive performance, suitable for complex precision structural component design needs.
This density parameter is the core basis for the design of high-precision products such as electrical equipment housings, terminal blocks, automotive sensor housings, medical equipment components, food processing utensils, and water treatment membrane modules. The amorphous structure and good hydrolysis resistance ensure stable dimensional accuracy in high-temperature, humid, and chemically corrosive environments. Density calculation is also key data for product lightweight design, mold runner design, assembly gap matching, and injection molding process parameter setting, while supporting the play of its core characteristics of high heat resistance, high insulation, and hydrolysis resistance.
