PPSU (Polyphenylsulfone) is an amorphous high-performance special engineering plastic belonging to the sulfone polymer family. Its molecular chain contains rigid benzene rings and sulfone groups, with high base density. Core advantages include excellent heat resistance, hydrolysis resistance, chemical corrosion resistance, and outstanding impact strength, along with natural flame retardancy and excellent dimensional stability. It can withstand high-temperature steam sterilization repeatedly, with no odor and toxicity, making it a benchmark material in the medical, food contact, and high-end electronic fields. The overall density fluctuation of PPSU is small, mainly affected by modification types and filling components. Different types and modified versions of PPSU have slight density variations. Accurate grasp of its density parameters is the key to the safe design and process optimization of high-end precision components.

General-purpose pure PPSU: 1.29–1.31 g/cm³, typical value 1.30 g/cm³. The amorphous structure gives it excellent toughness and dimensional stability, with no obvious melting point, good processing performance, suitable for various high-end basic precision components.
Glass fiber reinforced PPSU (10–30%): 1.38–1.55 g/cm³. The higher the glass fiber content, the more obvious the density increase. While retaining PPSU's core performance, it significantly improves the material's strength, rigidity, and creep resistance, suitable for high-load scenarios.
Mineral-filled PPSU: 1.35–1.50 g/cm³. Filling content is positively correlated with density. It mainly adds minerals such as talc and glass beads to focus on improving dimensional stability, reducing anisotropy, and controlling production costs.
Flame-retardant PPSU (natural flame retardant, no need for addition): 1.29–1.31 g/cm³. The material itself has UL94 V-0 flame retardancy, no need to add additional flame retardants, density consistent with pure PPSU, environmentally friendly and stable in performance, suitable for high-end safety scenarios.
Medical/food-grade PPSU: 1.29–1.31 g/cm³. Passed FDA and USP Class VI certifications, with minimal density fluctuation. The core advantage is hygiene and safety, non-toxic, can withstand high-temperature steam sterilization repeatedly, suitable for medical and food contact scenarios.
Glass fiber + mineral composite PPSU: 1.40–1.58 g/cm³. It combines the high strength of glass fiber with the dimensional stability of minerals, with density between single reinforcement systems, more balanced comprehensive performance, suitable for complex high-end precision structural components.
This density parameter is the core basis for the design of high-precision products such as medical surgical instruments, dental equipment, baby bottles, aerospace structural components, high-end electronic connectors, semiconductor processing equipment, and food processing equipment components. The amorphous structure and excellent hydrolysis resistance ensure stable dimensional accuracy under repeated high-temperature sterilization, strong chemical corrosion, and extreme temperature conditions. Density calculation is also key data for product strength check, mold design, assembly tolerance matching, and injection molding process optimization, while supporting the play of its core characteristics of ultra-high heat resistance, high toughness, and natural flame retardancy.
