Specific Gravity (Density) of TPV
TPV (Thermoplastic Vulcanizate) is a dynamically vulcanized thermoplastic elastomer with polypropylene (PP) as the continuous phase and EPDM as the dispersed phase, combining high rubber elasticity and thermoplastic processability, with excellent weather resistance, aging resistance and oil resistance.

Its basic density is affected by vulcanization system, hardness and filling modification, and the density range of different grades is clear and stable, with slight differences among different grades and modified types, as detailed below:
General-Purpose TPV (Hardness 40A–90A): 0.92~1.00 g/cm³, typical value 0.95 g/cm³, the basic density range for conventional application grades
High Hardness TPV (95A–60D): 1.00~1.07 g/cm³, typical value 1.03 g/cm³, density increases accordingly with the rise of PP phase proportion
Glass Fiber Reinforced TPV (10%~30% Glass Fiber): 1.07~1.27 g/cm³, the higher the glass fiber content, the more significant the density increase, used to enhance rigidity and dimensional stability
Mineral Filled TPV (Calcium Carbonate / Talc Filled): 1.02~1.22 g/cm³, density is positively correlated with filler loading, focusing on cost reduction and molding shrinkage improvement
Flame Retardant TPV (Mainly Halogen-Free Systems): 0.97~1.10 g/cm³, typical value 1.02 g/cm³, halogen-free flame retardants have little impact on density, suitable for environmental flame retardant requirements in automotive and electronic fields
Oil / Chemical Resistant Modified TPV: 0.95~1.07 g/cm³, typical value 1.00 g/cm³, functional modification additives have limited impact on density, with controllable overall fluctuation
This density parameter is a core basis for the design of automotive weather strips, dust covers, buffer parts, wire and cable sheaths, hydraulic pipe fittings and household appliance sealing structural parts. Its stable density range and good weather and aging resistance make it widely used in long-term outdoor and high-temperature oil environments. Density calculation is also key data for product weight control, mold cavity design, assembly clearance matching and extrusion / injection molding parameter setting, while supporting its core properties of high elasticity, low compression set and recyclable processability.
