Analysis of Industrial Application Scenarios of Internal Thread Plugs

2026-06-30 11:44:32 Plastic Molds
Internal thread plugs, also named inner thread stoppers, seal inner threaded holes with external threads and sink fully inside holes without protruding structures, suitable for narrow assembly spaces, high-pressure cavities and precision molds. They are manufactured from carbon steel, stainless steel, copper and plastic with PTFE or fluororubber gaskets for different working conditions.
Hydraulic and Pneumatic Valve Block Sealing

Hydraulic manifolds, cylinders and pneumatic valve blocks reserve process oil holes, pressure test holes and spare channels, all sealed by internal thread plugs to avoid interference with valve and pipeline installation. Stainless steel plugs with PTFE gaskets bear 25–35MPa hydraulic pressure to prevent oil leakage, while low-cost copper and nylon plugs serve low-pressure compressed air and vacuum pipelines. Detachable plugs are adopted for temporary pressure measuring holes to facilitate later maintenance and inspection.

Injection & Die Casting Mold Water/Oil Circuit Blocking
Mold cooling and heat transfer oil channels retain redundant branch holes sealed by high-temperature stainless steel internal plugs with fluororubber gaskets, resisting 80–180℃ working temperature and avoiding coolant leakage polluting mold cavities. Their flush surface prevents mold surface collision, scratch and flash during mold closing. Standardized unified specifications simplify multi-cavity mold assembly and enable fast disassembly for pipeline dredging.
Mechanical Box and Gearbox Oil Cavity Sealing
Reducer boxes, machine tool spindle housings and hydraulic fuel tanks have casting process holes and spare liquid level detection holes sealed by inner thread plugs. Galvanized carbon steel plugs fit normal-temperature lubricating oil, while 304 stainless steel versions meet food and medical machinery cleanliness standards. The sunken design avoids impact damage from surrounding transmission parts, keeps the box surface flat and simplifies protective cover installation.
Pressure Vessel and Circulation Pipeline Spare Hole Sealing
Cooling water pipelines, heat exchangers and small air storage tanks use copper plugs for normal-temperature antifreeze and circulating water, while high-pressure cleaning equipment and gas tanks adopt alloy steel plugs with metal hard sealing without aging rubber parts. The non-protruding structure saves cabinet internal space and prevents pipeline friction damage.
New Energy and Precision Electronic Micro Cavity Sealing

New energy vehicle electronic control cooling shells and lithium battery cooling modules widely use miniature 316 stainless steel plugs resistant to ethylene glycol coolant corrosion. Aluminum and lightweight plastic plugs apply to vacuum inspection fixtures and electronic component cavities without releasing volatile contaminants, meeting lightweight and clean production requirements.

Fixture and Test Jig Process Hole Blocking
Air tightness testing tools and machining fixtures seal unused gas and water channels with internal thread plugs to maintain stable vacuum and test precision without scratching workpieces during loading and unloading. Low-cost nylon plugs reduce jig manufacturing costs for mass detection stations.
Material Selection Rules by Working Condition
Copper and nylon suit normal low-pressure water and air; stainless steel with fluororubber gaskets match high-temperature oil and corrosive coolant; carbon alloy steel fits heavy high-pressure gearboxes; 304/316 stainless steel is mandatory for food, medical and new energy clean workshops. Any scenario requiring flat surfaces and no assembly interference prioritizes internal thread plugs over external protruding stoppers to cut leakage and collision failures.
