Standard Procedures for Plastic Mold Trial
Mold trial is critical to verifying structural validity, optimizing parameters, and confirming quality. A standardized procedure ensures mold safety, fast parameter locking, and stable mass production while reducing defects and damage.
Pre-Trial Preparation
Inspect molds, machines, materials, and auxiliary systems thoroughly. Check cavities, slides, lifters, ejector pins, waterlines, and hot runners for integrity. Verify mold size matches machine tonnage and stroke. Dry materials properly to avoid bubbles and silver streaks. Prepare copper tools, air guns, release agents, and rust inhibitors. Set initial temperature parameters.
Mold Installation and Safety Inspection
Mount the mold steadily, align locating rings, and center the nozzle. Clamp evenly to avoid shifting. Connect cooling water, hot runners, and pneumatics; check for leaks. Manually cycle opening, closing, ejection, and core movements to confirm no interference or jamming.

Basic Parameter Setting
Set barrel, nozzle, and mold temperatures within mid-to-low recommended ranges. Start with moderate injection speed, pressure, holding pressure, and cooling time to avoid flash, sticking, or damage. Purge the barrel to ensure clean, stable melt before mold testing.
Manual Short-Shot Debugging
Use manual mode for gradual short shots. Increase injection volume step by step to observe filling patterns, short shots, gas traps, and balance. Adjust speed and pressure to set proper transfer points, filling cavities nearly completely without flashing, and verify venting.
Automatic Molding and Process Optimization
Switch to automatic mode after manual approval. Observe appearance, dimensions, and warpage. Add holding or extend time for sinks; lower temperature or pressure for flash; optimize speed or venting for weld lines; adjust temperature, cooling, or holding for warpage. Refine parameters until consistent quality.

Product Inspection and Documentation
Inspect appearance, measure dimensions, and verify assembly and performance after stability. Record final parameters including temperatures, pressures, speeds, and times. Complete trial reports noting issues, corrections, and approval status for mass production reference.
Post-Trial Procedures
Lower temperatures gradually, shut down, and clean the barrel. Close water, hot runners, and pneumatics. Clean and rust-protect the mold before storage. Organize samples, reports, and files to close the trial process.
