Dust and Pollution Prevention Measures for Transparent Plastic Injection Molding

2026-04-01 10:41:05 Plastic Injection Molding
In the production of transparent plastic products such as optical lenses, transparent housings and packaging parts, even tiny dust, oil stains, black spots or silk marks will seriously damage appearance and light transmittance. Therefore, dust and pollution control is critical to ensuring qualified production. This article introduces systematic prevention measures covering raw materials, environment, equipment, operation and packaging.
I. Raw Material Control

Transparent materials including PC, PMMA, PETG and PS are highly sensitive to moisture and impurities. Raw materials must be inspected for agglomeration, discoloration and contamination before use. Adequate drying according to material specifications eliminates bubbles and silver marks. Hoppers, dryers and material suction systems must be cleaned regularly and equipped with filters to prevent debris from entering the barrel. Material switching requires thorough purging to avoid cross-contamination.

II. Workshop Environment Control
The production area for transparent parts should be enclosed and isolated from dusty workshops. Epoxy flooring is recommended to reduce dust, and daily wet mopping is required. Doors and windows should be sealed with dust-proof curtains, and ventilation systems should be equipped with filters to maintain positive pressure. Tools, shelves and turnover boxes must be kept clean. High-standard optical parts require a Class 100,000 clean booth for inspection and packaging.
III. Equipment and Mold Protection

Injection machines must be free of oil leakage, carbon deposition and glue overflow. Nozzle and flange areas need frequent cleaning. The mold cavity surface shall not be touched by hands to avoid fingerprints and stains. Molds should be closed or covered during shutdown to prevent dust adhesion. Cooling channels and vents require regular maintenance. Oil-based release agents are prohibited; only dry, special release agents for transparent parts are allowed.

IV. Operator Operating Specifications
Workers must wear clean work clothes, hats, masks and gloves. Jewelry, skin care products and loose hair are not allowed. Products should be handled with clean tools to avoid direct contact. Scrap materials must be collected in sealed containers. Unnecessary movement is restricted to reduce dust diffusion.
V. Post-Processing and Packaging Control
Trimming, inspection and packaging should be completed continuously. Surface dust can be removed by clean oil-free compressed air or lint-free cloths. Products should be individually packed in dust-free or anti-static bags. Cartons must be clean and dry. Finished products should be stored away from oil, dust and smoke sources.
Through full-process control, the defect rate caused by dust, oil and fiber contamination can be significantly reduced, ensuring high transparency and appearance quality of transparent plastic parts.
